Tour the Island

Blue Island is excited to host two “behind the scenes” tours of our community on July 21 and 22.

Meet at Fay’s Point on Saturday, July 21 for a hike of the history-laden confluence of the Little Calumet River and the Cal-Sag Channel. Once home to American Indian tribes, Fay’s Point has been witness to the many transformations Blue Island has experienced over the centuries. On Sunday, July 22, Blue Island is proud to welcome Forgotten Chicago to Blue Island for their first tour of our City’s “unexpected” finds. This walking tour meets at 1pm at the historic Vermont Street / Rock Island Metra station. Join Forgotten Chicago as they explore Uptown, 19th century residential structures, industrial remnants, abandoned bridges, and a rare in-depth tour of Bertrand Goldberg’s iconic Heimbach House.
