Unfortunately, the annual Southland Regatta at Fay’s Point for women’s collegiate rowing has been canceled this November. Movie Filming in Blue Island!
Exterior shots for the Anthony Hopkins movie, The Rite, will be filmed in Blue Island on Thursday, October 21st. Filming will take place on Western Avenue (between 127th and Vermont) and on Maple Street (between Walnut and Union Streets). Unfortunately, the Saturday, August 22, 2010 City of Blue Island Light Up the River Boat Parade and Fireworks event has been cancelled due to lack of boater participation.
