The City of Blue Island is the westernmost point of the Calumet Heritage area; the Indiana Dunes is the easternmost point. We are attempting to get designation as a National Heritage Corridor. Across the country, National Heritage Corridor designations have helped benefit local communities and landscapes. Public outreach is one step in the designation process.
On Monday, May 12, from 5:30-7:30pm at the Vodak/East Side Branch of the Chicago Public Library artists are invited for a conversation to explore the role that the arts can play in creating a Calumet Heritage Area along the southern shores of Lake Michigan…view our flyer ArtsConvo May 12_FINAL-2
This is the second in a series of community conversations with residents, organizations, and businesses to document their contributions to the uniqueness of the Calumet Region, and gather their feedback on what a future heritage area could be. We believe starting these discussions with artists is important, because artists often make a point of looking at concepts from unique perspectives.
Please share this invitation with Calumet artists or art groups who might be interested in attending.
