Blue Island joins the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago in participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26, 2013.
Proper disposal of unwanted or expired medicine is good for the environment. When flushed, these drugs can end up contaminating our streams and lakes. In additional to the environmental benefits, proper disposal of unwanted drugs is important to insure the drugs are not used improperly or illegally. Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved and leads to accidental poisoning or abuse.
Collection will take place at the Main Gate House of the following Water Reclamation Plants (WRP) on Saturday, October 26 from 10am – 2pm:
- Calumet WRP – 400 E. 130th St, Chicago
- Stickney WRP – 6001 W Pershing Rd, Cicero
- O’Brien WRP – 3500 Howard St, Skokie
