Rocky Clark bill signed into law at Eisenhower High School

Police Officer Exam Notice QUINN

On Sunday, August 4th, at Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Governor Quinn signed into law a bill requiring all high school districts in Illinois to purchase catastrophic injury insurance, up to $3 million for each student, by January 2, 2014.   Known as “Rocky’s Law”, it is named after former Eisenhower High School student, Rasul “Rocky” Clark, who was 16 when he became a quadriplegic after suffering a spinal cord injury during a football game at Eisenhower in September 2000.  At the time of his injury, Community School High School District 218 was one of the few in the state that offered $5 million catastrophic injury insurance to all its students.  Rocky fought for this bill from his wheelchair until he passed away in 2012 at the age of 27.
