The Blue Island Fire Department was awarded a FEMA grant for more than $200,000 to purchase new telecommunication gear to enhance firefighter safety and effectiveness! This grant requires Blue Island to match a portion of the amount awarded. To help with this effort, the Blue Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry is holding a fundraiser at Double Play Saloon, 13011 Western Avenue, on Saturday, August 17 from 6:00-9:00pm. The cost is $10 per person and includes dinner and raffles. The best part, our own Great Lakes Bank has generously pledged to match the donations raised dollar for dollar up to $12,000! The $10 tickets can be purchased at the Double Play Saloon and at Carr home & garden located at 2357 York Street. If you can’t make the event, but wish to donate, contact the Chamber at 388-1000.
