Free Weatherization Upgrades For Residents – Do You Qualify?

The free Energy Upgrades program from the Chicagoland Vintage Home Association (CVHA) provides weatherization upgrades through the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program — insulation, air sealing, health and safety measures, and installation of energy-saving products to income-eligible owners of vintage homes. Energy Upgrades (a value of upwards of $7,000) are now available to eligible Blue Island residents!

Do you qualify based on the following criteria?
– Vintage single-family home built at least 30 years ago
– Home must be owner-occupied and receive electric delivery service from ComEd
– Home must be located in Oak Forest, Midlothian, Lansing, Posen, Crestwood, Thornton, Calumet City or Blue Island
– Household income of 80% Area Median Income (AMI). Income is based on household size, see chart below:

Past program recipients are experiencing significant utility bill savings. Since 2018, recipients have reported gas bill savings up to 50% and electric bill savings between 20% and 30%. Joyce G. recently participated in the free Energy Upgrades program, and it’s paying off! Joyce shares, “The temperature in my home is consistent now.
