About The Alliance for Healthy & Active Communities
The Alliance for Healthy & Active Communities (AHAC) is a group of community health advocates led by the Cook County Department of Public Health. We work to make healthy options easy, convenient and accessible to residents of suburban Cook County through skill building and advocacy. Our goal is to change the norms of our communities to make healthy lifestyles the rule, not the exception, in everyday life.
AHAC has 4 action teams focused on our core policy areas:
- healthy eating;
- physical activity;
- tobacco prevention & control; and
- access to prevention services.
