If your house should be on fire or someone is in your yard and you call the fire department and/or Police, they may have to approach your property from the alley. For your safety, you have to have your address numbers on your garage!
Starting October 1st, the Blue Island Building Department will start issuing yellow tag warnings to residents who do not have their address numbers posted on their garages. The next step is a ticket.
Address numbers are available at any hardware store, home improvement store and even craft and sometimes dollar stores. Please be sure the numbers are visible on your garage.
The safety of our residents is a top priority for our Mayor and the City!
