Saturday, June 20th

Drivin’ the Dixie

The Dixie Highway marks its 100th anniversary this year. Routed in 1915, it was the first north-south paved “interstate” highway that stretched from Chicago to Miami. To celebrate this milestone, the A’s R Us Model A Ford Club and participating Dixie communities are installing signs in Blue Island, Posen, Markham, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Flossmoor, Chicago Heights, Steger, Crete, Beecher, Grant Park and Momence as well as several downstate communities. The Drivin’ the Dixie event starts this Saturday in Blue Island! It will go from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Union and Western.

Yard Sale on the Hill

The annual Yard Sale on the Hill will be Saturday June 20th from 8 am to 3 pms.  Come on out and shop! You can find anything from clothing to household goods, indoor and outdoor furniture, electronics, books and more. The boundaries are 127th st on the north, Vermont on the south, Western to the east and Highland to the west.

Sunday, June 21st

Heal the River

Join Rev. Rod Reinhart from St Joseph and St. Aidan Episcopal Church for the 8th annual Interfaith Day of Prayer to preserve and protect our natural world. They will be blessing and praying to reverse global climate change, stop environmental pollution, support renewable energy, use sustainable construction practices. It will take place at the CEPA and Water Reclamation Station at the Cal-Sag Canal. After the ceremony, all are invited to join them for food at DeMar’s Restaurant.

Father’s Day Lunch
