Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago chooses Blue Island

The City of Blue Island has been selected by the non-profit Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago who  partners annually with Cook County to improve the homes of elderly, disabled or low-income residents who are selected following a vetting process. The renovations take the selected homes and, through the work of volunteers and  improve them for their residents. This community-rebuilding project, which will improve up to 25 homes of low-income Blue Island residents.

Repairs are completely free to the homeowner, and houses are “sponsored” by a volunteer team associated with a particular corporation, company or service club that will perform the repairs.

Eligibility for the free home repair is based on both financial eligibility and the type of work needed, with priority given to elderly and disabled homeowners. The deadline to apply for the program is October 15th.   Selection of applications will be made by Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago
