 What is passport parking?

Passport parking is the new easy and convenient way to pay for parking in Blue Island using a mobile phone, tablet or computer.  Passport parking will replace old coin boxes at commuter train lots and streamline the process to sign up for overnight parking for visitors.

What are the benefits of the Passport parking?

  • Pay for parking using your phone without having to go to a meter
  • Eliminates the need to carry cash to pay for parking making for safer transactions.
  • Receive mobile alerts prior to your time expiring
  • Extend your parking time remotely

Is there a fee to use the Passport Parking app?

Passport parking is a free service

How do I get started?

All you need is a credit or debit card. Choose one of the below methods for getting started:

  • Smartphone users: Download the free Passport Parking app to your phone
  • Use your mobile device or other web-accessible device to visit ppprk.com

What if I don’t have a smartphone or computer?

Users can also sign up for an account and pay over the phone by calling (708) 716-0716. This phone number will be posted on the signage providing directions for Passport Parking at all Blue Island Metra Parking Lots.

How do I get the app?

The free Passport Parking app is available for download in the iTunes App Store and at Google Play.

Can I still use the traditional method of paying for parking with coins or tokens?

Coins or tokens will still be accepted until March 31st, 2016.

When can I start using Passport Parking?

Without paying at the parking lot, how do parking enforcement officers know that I have paid for parking?

Once you pay with Passport Mobile Pay, the zone and space information that you enter is immediately sent to the parking enforcement’s monitoring system.

Do other cities offer mobile payment for metered parking?

Many cities are adopting mobile payment systems for metered parking including Bensenville, Brookfield, Buffalo Grove, Chicago, Deerfield, Des Plaines, Evanston, Glenview, Hinsdale, Morton Grove, Oak Park, Oak Lawn, River Forest, Schaumburg, Skokie, Villa Park, Wheaton, and Wilmette.

Can I use the Passport Parking app outside the City of Blue Island?

Yes. Passport Parking is located throughout the Chicagoland area. If you have the Passport Parking app, you can use your account in any of these locations.

How do I pay for parking using Passport Parking app?

Once you sign up for a Passport Parking account, that account needs to be linked to a credit or debit card.  Each transaction will be automatically charged to your card.

Transactions completed using an individual Credit/Debit card will show up on your card statements as an individual line item and will be deducted from your account once the parking session is completed.

Is it safe to do a credit card transaction over the phone or on an app?

Yes. Your credit card number is encrypted when you sign up and is never entered, displayed or spoken during a transaction.

Do I get a receipt?

Yes. All transactions can be viewed by logging into your Passport Mobile Pay account. You also have the option of receiving receipts by email or simply printing directly from your account?

Will there be a penalty for not using Passport Parking?

The fine structure for failure of parking will remain the same

Why is the city moving to Passport parking?

Passport parking will make it faster, easier and safer for anyone who pays for parking in Blue Island.  Passport parking will streamline how the city collects parking fees and fines.  It will be easier to track those that don’t pay as well as reduce the time it takes to enforce parking violations.
