Broadway St Resurfacing Begins

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that daily lane closures will take place on Broadway Street between Francisco Avenue and Ashland Avenue, in Blue Island, for a resurfacing project, beginning, weather permitting, Monday, May 1.

In order to complete the work, Broadway Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction with flaggers between Francisco Avenue and Ashland Avenue while work is taking place. Parking lanes will have temporary restrictions while work is taking place.

The scope of the project consists of resurfacing, pavement patching and replacement of curb and gutter. The overall project will improve safety by adding raised reflective pavement markers and sidewalk removal and replacement.

The project is expected to be completed in Fall 2017.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
