National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook

A reminder to all Blue Island residents: be on the lookout for posted Snow Routes when street parking during winter storms.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected: Elevated Snow Risk.

Snow will spread into the area to begin as early as the Wednesday evening commute. The heaviest snowfall rates, possibly in excess of one half inch per hour, will likely occur late this afternoon and evening, but lighter snow will linger into the Thursday morning commute. While snowfall amounts may end up being similar across the Chicago area through tomorrow given that there will be some lake enhancement potential, the earlier arrival time ahead of the commute and higher rates will be favored along and southeast of Interstate 55.
