City of Blue Island COVID-19 Response Update from Chief Reda

March 24, 2020

Dear Blue Island residents,

As our community continues to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, I want to assure you that our first responders and the City of Blue Island are working together around the clock to ensure the continued safety and wellness of our residents, business owners, and city employees.

On Sunday, March 22, 2020, Blue Island City Council called an emergency meeting, the result of which granted emergency response authority to me, in conjunction with Blue Island Police Chief Bernadine Rzab.

Chief Rzab and I have assembled a COVID-19 Response Team and are meeting daily to ensure the most up-to-date information can be shared with key department managers and personnel, and most importantly, communicated to you on a regular basis. The COVID-19 Response Team will continue to include more people over time and expand in its capacity to assist people afflicted by this dreaded disease.

In addition to posting updates to blueisland.org/coronavirus and to the City Facebook page, I’ll be sharing video messages on BITV4 and the City’s YouTube Channel. We know that you have many questions about the virus, our City’s response plans, and more.

I encourage you to submit your questions about Coronavirus using a special form we’ve set up on blueisland.org: https://www.blueisland.org/newblueisland/coronavirus/covid-19-questions/. I’ll be reviewing your questions and responding to as many as possible during my video updates.

Thank you for your continued support during these difficult and trying times. Chief Rzab, myself and the team look forward to helping lead our community through this pandemic, and are committed to emerging an even stronger, more resilient and healthier community than before.

Be safe and be well,

Daniel J. Reda
Blue Island Fire Chief
