Job Opportunity: Assembler/Pre-Apprentice

Explanation of Assembler/Pre-Apprentice employment opportunities with the CRCC at both Markham And Matteson Amazon Distribution Center projects.
The current construction of the 2 Amazon Distribution Centers in both Markham and Matteson, IL, at the same time, will require the employment of many professional tradesmen to construct and bring on line the 2 facilities. A large portion of these projects will be the installation of conveyor(23 miles of it in each facility) and distribution equipment to be done by the Millwrights, a specialty trade of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters.

Due to the competitive nature of the conveyor installation industry the CRCC Millwrights win the award of the installation contract through a special construction industry agreement(The Light Conveyor Agreement) which sets aside a portion of the Millwright workforce as pre-union employees known as Assembler/Pre-Apprentices, which make up 1/3 of the millwright workforce.

An Assembler/Pre-Apprentice working on these projects will:
– Be paid $15.96/hr. with an approx. .30¢/hr. raise on June 1st, 2021
– No benefits initially(possible later with apprenticeship)
– A 60 hour workweek(with time and a half for overtime hrs.)
– Job duration 4 to 8 months
– Work experience in a construction/industrial environment
– Introduction to construction skills, procedures, and practices
– Possible apprenticeship opportunities when project ends
– Entry level work experience for possible Amazon Facility Maintenance employment

Applicants should be physically capable of strenuous construction work and have good math/reasoning skills along with blueprint/schematic interpretation abilities.

Emphasis on reliable attendance and time management cannot be over emphasized.
Willingness to learn new skills and responsibilities will be rewarded with ample opportunity to learn and absorb possible career path skill set.
