CHICAGO (March 16, 2021) – Beginning Monday, March 22, Metra will be making minor changes to the schedules of three trains on its Rock Island Line to Joliet. These minor schedule changes are being made in response to customer feedback, to improve on-time performance and to provide transfer opportunities.
“As the region begins its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, Metra is committed to listening to our customers and improving schedules to better meet their needs,” said Metra CEO/Executive Director Jim Derwinski. “Our goal remains to provide the safest, most affordable, most reliable and most convenient service possible.”
Following significant changes to the Rock Island Line schedule on Feb. 1, 2021, Metra has reviewed customer feedback and actual conditions. Based upon this review, Metra is making alterations to the
schedules for three trains:
• Beginning Monday, March 22, inbound Train 706’s schedule will be adjusted so that the
train depart Joliet 5 minutes at 7:35 a.m. and arrives at LaSalle Street Station at 8:35 a.m.
This change will improve spacing between trains, thereby reducing delays due to
congestion.
• In response to feedback from customers, outbound train 611 will now depart LaSalle
Street Station 15 minutes later at 3:25 p.m. and arrive at Blue Island/Vermont Street at
4:05 p.m.
• The final schedule adjustment is to outbound Train 411, which will now depart LaSalle
Street Station 5 minutes later at 3:45 p.m. This new schedule will better enable passengers on Train 611, who board at intermediate stations, to transfer to Train 411 at Blue Island/Vermont Street.
