Mayor Fred Bilotto is proud to announce the appointment of David Haywood Jr. as Blue Island’s next Fire Chief. Chief Haywood’s appointment was met with unanimous support from City Council. Chief Haywood follows in the footsteps of his father David Haywood, who served as Blue Island’s Fire Chief until 2007.
Chief Haywood is a born and bred Blue Islander who began serving with the Blue Island Fire Department in 2004. He is a member of the Troublemakers and actively involved in the community.
“Chief Haywood has strong roots in Blue Island, and a commitment to the betterment of our community,” says Mayor Bilotto. “I believe Chief Haywood represents what we as an administration strive to be; deeply rooted in our past traditions, while remaining steadfastly focused on creating a brighter future for Blue Island.”
