The City of Blue Island and Mayor Fred Bilotto are proud to announce the initial phase of resurfacing more than 50 city blocks will begin on September 1, 2022. The first streets to be addressed are Artesian, Cochran, and Fairview. A map of all streets included in the first phase of work is included below.
This is the first phase of Blue Island’s multi-year approach to repairing City streets most in need. This initial phase follows a City-wide pavement analysis that was recently completed by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) as well as engineering studies to assist in prioritizing streets based on multiple considerations including pavement condition, drainage needs and emergency vehicle access.
Phase One of the Street Resurfacing Program is scheduled to be completed by November 30, 2022. Phase Two is scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2023.
