COMMUNITY UPDATE FROM MAYOR BILOTTO REGARDING RAVEN’S PLACE / THE VAULT

Last week, in response to a troubling shooting incident that took place outside Raven’s Place in September, the City Liquor Commission held a hearing to consider punitive actions. After hearing all the evidence, I have made the decision to revoke the liquor licenses for Raven’s Place and The Vault.

This is not a decision I make lightly. As a Mayor, I want to see more businesses open and thriving, and I have always enjoyed a good relationship with the owners of Raven’s Place / The Vault. When a similar incident involving guns happened last May, my staff and I met with the owners to craft a safety agreement designed to help prevent future incidents. Multiple aspects of that safety agreement were not being followed during this most recent episode, which factored into my decision to revoke the licenses.

As your Mayor, my most important obligation is to the health and safety of our community and its residents. No business or relationship is more important than our security, and the actions of my administration will always reflect our shared goal of making our community as safe as possible.
