During the month of March, the City of Blue Island will be celebrating Women’s History Month by featuring the outstanding women who work for or have been elected to serve the City. Meet Amber Ulatowski, Patrol Officer with the Blue Island Police Department:

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED FOR THE CITY OF BLUE ISLAND? 8 Months

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING AT THE CITY OF BLUE ISLAND? What I enjoy most about working for the City of Blue Island is being able to see the community come together to build a better city. All the business owners are genuine and willing to help the police department in any way they can. Also the restaurants in town have great food and I am a huge food lover.

WHO IS A WOMAN YOU ADMIRED GROWING UP? WHAT DID YOU ADMIRE ABOUT HER? The woman I admired the most growing up was my mother. What I admire about her is her work ethic. She has had many obstacles in her life but she knew how to push through them and always had an answer for everything.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO ASPIRE TO DO WHAT YOU DO? The advice that I have for young women who aspire to be in this profession is, don’t give up. If it’s something you truly want to accomplish work towards your dream and don’t let anyone change your mind. Be you!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SERVE AS A WOMAN IN LEADERSHIP? What this question means to me is women are capable of handling the more humanistic sides of situations. Woman show a lot of empathy. With that being said individuals would tend to feel more comfortable with explaining and or expressing feelings and situations they are in.
