Celebrating Women’s History – Employee Spotlight Jaila Cole-Clark

During the month of March, the City of Blue Island will be celebrating Women’s History Month by featuring the outstanding women who work for or have been elected to serve the City. Meet Jaila Cole-Clark, Patrol Officer with the Blue Island Police Department:

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED FOR THE CITY OF BLUE ISLAND? 1 Year and 3 Months

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING AT THE CITY OF BLUE ISLAND? I enjoy working in Blue Island because of the camaraderie. I also enjoy working with the youth in the community. There’s always a smile on my face, it’s never a dull moment in the city.

WHO IS A WOMAN YOU ADMIRED GROWING UP? WHAT DID YOU ADMIRE ABOUT HER? My mother and as I grew older I became very fond of my four sisters as well. Each of them taught me to be strong, to never give up and to be compassionate. My mother is a strong, hard-working woman. She has so many qualities to admire. She’s opened so many doors for me, providing me with countless opportunities to succeed. They are the reason I am who I am.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO ASPIRE TO DO WHAT YOU DO? Take risks and practice resilience. Many people will doubt you, use it as motivation. Be a firecracker. Go after what you want.
