City of Blue Island Think Outside the Loop
Blue Island is a lead agency for the 10-member Cal-Sag Trail Coalition. Follow trail construction with the Friends of the Cal-Sag Trail.
In July 2011, the City of Blue Island adopted the Blue Island Complete Streets Ordinance, becoming the first municipality in Illinois to adopt a Complete Streets policy as a local ordinance.

Blue Island adopted its first Active Transportation Plan in March, 2012. The plan recognizes Blue Island’s heritage as a transit hub and builds support and infrastructure for walking and biking in Blue Island.
