General Overview
The Supervisor of Golf is responsible for efficient management and operation of the Meadows Golf Club in a manner consistent with City policy, general business and golf course management practices. This includes promoting all aspects of the course’s image, overseeing professional instruction to golfer’s, pro shop merchandising, personnel supervision and customer services.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
• Plans, organizes and directs all divisions of course management including pro shop, golf course, putting greens, driving range maintenance, leagues, tournaments, golf cart maintenance, range operations concessions and general instruction.
• Performs public relation activities; develops promotional and marketing strategies; establishes quality customer service standards and reviews effectiveness of these programs by reviewing attendance and revenue reports.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public, businesses, special interest groups, etc., to build interest and motivate individuals to play golf.
• Assures safety regulations are implemented, inspects facilities and arranges for regular maintenance.
• Develops overall business plan including recommending new fee proposals when necessary.
• Prepares, justifies, monitors and presents annual budget including revenue and expenditures including long range plan covering equipment and capital improvements to the course and facilities.
• Oversees multiple financial responsibilities including collecting fees, daily cash reconciliations, coordinating bank deposits, approving course expenditures and maintaining department inventory systems.
• Supervises work of all golf course employees to ensure excellent customer service; interviews, hires, evaluates performance and implements disciplinary procedures as required. Trains employees to meet the standards of the Professional Golf Association (PGA).
• Ensures and approves merchandising purchases for the pro shop to offer a variety of golf equipment, clothing and supplies to meet the needs of the customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Extensive knowledge of the principles, theories and practices of golf course management and operations including budgeting and financial practices.
• Extensive knowledge of the game of golf and PGA rules and regulations.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles of course design, course management and maintenance.
• Considerable knowledge of safety regulations associated with golf course maintenance and play.
• Considerable knowledge regarding golf course operations and merchandising issues.
• Ability to organize and direct the management of various divisions of course operations and supervise the varied functions and staff.
• Ability to demonstrate strong public relations and communications skills through developing effective working relationships with employees, the public and community leaders.
• Ability to guide, train and direct the work of others.
• Ability to enforce golf course facility’s rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially.
• Ability to use or learn the CDGA (Chicago District Golf Association) handicap system for league play.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Golf Administration, Parks and Recreation Administration, Public or Business Administration or other closely related field plus five (5) years’ experience of golf course management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Seven (7) years’ experience working as a Golf Course Manager.
