Regional planning organizations Metropolis 2020 & Metropolitan Mayors Caucus partnered with Community Development Department staff to develop a Housing Policy Plan for the City of Blue Island. The study is a part of Homes for a Changing Region, a 3-year project aimed at identifying strategies to address the housing supply and demand imbalance in the six-county Chicago metropolitan region through year 2030.
Homes for a Changing Region is sponsored by the Chicago Community Trust, the Fannie Mae Foundation, the Harris Family Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and National City Bank. The Housing Policy Plan for Blue Island kicked off in late-November 2008 and was completed in December 2009.
