COVID-19 Guidance for Food Service Businesses

Kamala Nagaraj, Manager of Food Safety for the Cook County Department of Public Health, has recommended the following procedure if a food service facility has a person who tests positive for COVID-19:

1. Call Kamala Nagaraj at (847) 818-2844 and provide her information about the situation.

2. Kamala will send a letter and symptom log to the owner/manager of the food service facility for documentation purpose, which the county will track on their side.

3. The food service facility must close for a complete cleaning and sanitization before reopening with only non-exposed employees who remain in good health.
