Fireworks Are Illegal In Blue Island

Fireworks are illegal in Blue Island. You may be arrested and/or fined. Please be considerate of others. During the recent events of civil unrest, the Blue Island Police Department is focusing on the protection of the residents and property. Please do not bring unnecessary stress upon the residents by the use of fireworks. We are asking for your cooperation at this time.

(425 ILCS 35/2) Possession, sale, and use of fireworks. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, co-partnership, or corporation to knowingly possess, offer for sale, expose for sale, sell at retail, or use or explode any display fireworks, flame effects, or consumer fireworks; provided that city councils in cities, the president and board of trustees in villages and incorporated towns, and outside the corporate limits of cities, villages and incorporated towns, the county board, shall have power to adopt reasonable rules and regulations for the granting of permits for pyrotechnic and consumer displays.

COBI: 93.03 POSSESSION, SALE AND USE. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, co-partnership or corporation to knowingly possess, offer for sale, expose for sale, sell at retail or use or explode any display fireworks, flame effects or consumer fireworks within the city.
